Origin and meaning of our name and slogan
Modubu is the Northern Sotho name for the River Bush Willow. This tree symbolizes the life-sustaining flow of water, the unique identity of the Waterberg region. The abundance of water is also typical at Modubu Lodge, particularly during the rainy season when it just oozes from the mountain.
The River Bush Willow is a member of the Combretum family of tree species, which are closely associated with the Waterberg region. Combretums represent peace & tranquillity with their expansive canopies and delicate foliage. The gentle rustling of their leaves and the soothing shade they provide evoke feelings of peace & tranquility that echoes our slogan, and epitomizes the ambiance that Modubu Lodge offers. Modubu Lodge is a serene retreat where peace & tranquility flourish.

2. Muringon bush camp
Modubu Camping
We are thrilled to announce that work has begun on developing our camping facilities!
The first phase involves a camping park with a rustic ablution block with the outer walls constructed from local rock and stones. The ablution block will feature:
- One family bathroom with a bath, vanity, toilet, and baby changing station.
- Four spacious family bathrooms with showers, vanities, and toilets.
- Two additional toilets.
- A fully equipped laundry room.
- A scullery area for dishwashing.
- A designated area for flushing portable toilets.
The camping park will comprise 12 camping stands that will be arranged in a horseshoe shape around the ablution block. These camping sites are thoughtfully positioned to minimize disruption to the flora, while providing ample privacy and shade.
Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses!

All this of course would not have been possible without the commitment from our staff Joice, Andrew & Petrus. You are truly appreciated!
